Man of the Decade?
If it was for man who affected the events of this decade the most (9/11 response, Katrina response, Iraq War, Financial Crisis), I would have to go with Man of the Decade being Dick Cheney, with an intertwined second being Osama Bin Laden.
If it was for the men and women who affected a longer history the most this decade, here’s a few, depending on contingencies:
- Al Gore (if climate change and its debate remains a big deal)
- Barack Obama (if he comes through)
- Ben Bernanke / Tim Geithner / Henry Paulson (if this financial crisis and its response has long terms effects)
- Steve Jobs / Mark Zuckerberg (if their experiments in social/informational reorganization stick)
- The Threadless / Netflix / ZipCar People (If they are the start of a new type of corporation — one based on social, active consumer choice, sustainability, internet, etc.)
Who do you guys think is the Man/Woman of the Decade? Who had the most effect on the events of this decade? Who had the most effect on history?
