Prepping for Entry Level Position or Long Term Success
I always liked the statement that people who are resume-padders or networkers are prepping for their entry level position, as opposed to their long term success. For example, shallow title-grubbing without thought or learning will get you into a good college, but it won’t give you the skills/mindsets to succeed and get the best out of college; networking might get you a good opening job in law firm, but it won’t allow you to move up and succeed over the decades.
It’s fun to think about physical appearance in the same way. A dolled up face will get you a good entry level position in someone’s eyes, but it speaks nothing to long term relationships.
So, I guess, in a way, over-zealous physical vanity is just like shallow resume padding.
